Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep...

We work with Meredith alot on saying prayers.  She has learned a prayer that she really likes to say at bed time.  I am sure many of you will remember it from childhood.

Now I lay me down to sleep.

I pray the Lord my soul to keep.

May angels watch me through the night,

and keep me in their blessed sight.

Amen

I love to hear her say that prayer.  She says it so sweetly.  Last night on our way home from church we had to detour and go a different way because of a serious accident.  Meredith was pretty concerned for whoever was involved, and asked me if I thought they were okay.  I told her they were probably fine, but that we could pray for them.  She didn't hesitate, but before I could explain that we should ask God to be with them and help them she started saying, "Now I lay me down to sleep...."  It was so sweet, and she was so serious about it, but I of course had to explain that we don't always use that prayer for everything.

When we got home from church last night I finished preparing dinner.  I called Creig and Meredith to the table and we sat down to eat.  Creig got ready to say a blessing, and Meredith said, "Wait!  Wait!  I want to say a blessing first."  So Creig told her to go ahead.  Again, she started with, "Now I lay me down to sleep...."  We let her finish and then Creig said his prayer.  We told her that when we are eating dinner we should thank God for the food, and she said, "I know, and I do thank him, but I really like saying Now I lay me down to sleep...."  What a mess!   I am so thankful for her, and so thankful that she loves the Lord, enjoys praying, and loves church! 

How can you not love this face?!
